Intensive Preparatory Course in Written Irish
(May–August 2013)

Would you like to improve your written Irish? Perhaps you’d like to apply for a job or a postgraduate course but you’re worried that you don’t have the required standard in the language. Or perhaps you’re already working through Irish but need to improve your skills in order to get a promotion. If you fall into one of those categories, why not take part in Gaelchultúr Intensive Preparatory Course in Written Irish which is being held between May and August 2013 - you’ll be up to speed in no time!

Irish Language Course for Hibernia Applicants

Gaelchultúr is now accepting registrations for its Irish Language Course for Hibernia Applicants. This course is aimed at those who will be doing the Irish language interview for the H.Dip. in Arts in Primary Education. The course focuses on the main topics of conversation that arise in the interview and participants are given an opportunity to improve their speaking skills and add to their vocabulary.This course aims to provide participants with information that will enable them to:

• start their interview well - this will put the interviewee at ease and impress the interviewers

• use verbs correctly

• give comprehensive answers, at a high standard, to questions that are frequently asked in the interview

• give grammatically correct answers.

The course is suitable for those who have studied Irish at school, perhaps a good number of years ago, who understand a great deal of the language, but have had few opportunities to use it in recent years. The emphasis is on developing speaking and listening skills and grammar is taught in context, as it is required.

Irish language evening classes – Summer 2013

The summer course will commence the week beginning 13 May 2013 and classes will be available in Dublin and other venues throughout Ireland. Participants will attend one class per week, between 7.00 – 9.00 p.m., for ten weeks.

Irish language evening classes - Autumn 2013

The autumn course will commence the week beginning 23 September 2013 and classes will be available in Dublin and other venues throughout Ireland. Participants will attend one class per week, between 7.00–9.00 p.m., for ten weeks.

Intensive Irish Language Course for Post-Primary Teachers Working in Gaeltacht and All-Irish Schools

This is a week-long intensive course which is suitable for teachers in post-primary Gaeltacht and Irish schools who are interested in improve their language skills.

Certificate in Professional Irish

These part-time programmes, the first of their kind, will help public sector employees communicate more effectively through Irish and add to their spoken language skills. The courses will give the employees an opportunity to learn specialised language pertaining to their work and to gain a recognised qualification at the same time.
