Vacancy: Lecturer in Irish with Coláiste na hÉireann/Gaelchultúr

Coláiste na hÉireann/Gaelchultúr is looking for a Lecturer in Irish for a full-time permanent position. The successful applicant will be based in the institute’s offices on Clare Street, Dublin 2.

Applicants are required to have a high standard of both written and spoken Irish, and have experience in teaching Irish in a third level college.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience; standard office hours. Training opportunities will be available to the successful candidate.

The Lecturer in Irish’s main responsibilities will include the following:

  • teaching on the institute’s Postgraduate Diploma in Translation
  • teaching Irish to learners at various levels of competency
  • developing new third level courses
  • developing lesson plans and teaching resources
  • carrying out quality assurance in the case of the institute’s language courses
  • regularly undertaking proofing and editing work
  • engaging in research on a continual basis.

Required qualification/experience/skills
  • Master’s degree in Irish (level 9 NFQ)
  • Experience in teaching Irish in a third level college
  • Experience in translation work
  • Excellent computer skills

Desirable qualification/experience
  • PhD in Irish
  • Teaching qualification
  • Experience in developing teaching resources
