The Irish interview is one of the aspects of the entry process for the Professional Master of Education that people tend to worry the most over. There's no need to be anxious, however, as we have two courses here in Gaelchultúr designed specifically to prepare you for the interview, no matter what your schedule and no matter where you're based. The two courses focus on the main topics of conversation that arise in the interview and participants are given an opportunity to improve their speaking skills and add to their vocabulary.
During the interview, communication skills, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and accuracy are assessed. The two courses offered by Gaelchultúr provide participants with information that will enable them to:
This is the most comprehensive course that we have to prepare people for the Irish entrance interview with Hibernia College. Students undertaking this course attend a two-hour session in the classroom, one night a week for eight weeks, in Gaelchultúr, 11 Clare Street, Dublin 2.
This spring those classes will take place on Wednesdays between 7.00pm and 9.00pm, on the following dates: 22, 29 May, 5, 12, 19, 26 June agus 3, 10 July.
Students of this course will have access for six months to an online course on www.ranganna.com: Intensive Preparatory Course - Professional Masters in Education (Primary) Interviews. See below for further information about that course.
You can find more information about this eight-week course here.
As the title implies, this course is a one-day intensive course, that would therefore suit someone who may not have the time to attend the 8-week course or who is not located in Dublin, but also would prefer to spend some time in the classroom with a teacher rather than working completely independently from home.
This course will be held in Gaelchultúr’s education centre on 11 May from 10am to 4:30pm.
Students of this course will also have access for six months to an online course on www.ranganna.com: Intensive Preparatory Course - Professional Masters in Education (Primary) Interviews. See below for further information about that course.
You can find more information about this one day course here.
This online course is an option for those who are not available to attend the above courses. It can be completed by students at their own pace at home, no matter where they are based – in Ireland or further afield.
There are nine different units in the course, each of which concentrates on a distinct topic that could come up in the interview. Here are the topics dealt with in the course:
The emphasis of the course is on preparing students to be able to tackle the above topics during the interview. Useful vocabulary and phrases are taught, and there are many sample conversations provided also. All parts of the course include sound files so that students can reacquaint themselves properly with the sounds of the language.
