Culture Night with Gaelchultúr

Culture Night, which will be held on 18 September, will have a different feel this year. As well as the offline events we’re used to seeing on this particular night, this year will also feature many events being held online for the first time, including Gaelchultúr's Blaiseadh den Ghaeilge/A Taste of Irish.

The aim of the Taste of Irish event is to give participants a taste of the teaching style we use and to give them an idea of what level they should choose if they’re interested in attending one of our online classes this autumn. This is a free event, as are all events held during Culture Night.

We will be offering sample classes at three levels during A Taste of Irish and they will last 30 minutes each. The schedule will be as follows:

7.00pm: Beginners

7.30pm: Elementary

8.00pm: Lower Intermediate

All are welcome to A Taste of Irish. If you’ve been considering taking an Irish course for a long time, or if you’ve had misgivings about returning to the language, or even if you’re unsure of where to start, you’re sure to find this event enjoyable and beneficial. It’s a great opportunity to get to know some of our engaging teachers, who are very experienced in online teaching. You’ll get to meet other learners, you’ll be able to ask the teacher questions, and you’ll gain an insight into our interactive approach to teaching.

To attend one of these sample online classes, all you’ll need is a headset with a microphone, a laptop or a desktop computer and a reasonably good broadband connection. To book a place, please send an email to by 5.00pm on Friday, 18 September, and let us know which class you would like to attend.

Don't worry if you’re not available to attend A Taste of Irish on Culture Night: we will be running a similar event on Saturday, 12 September. Classes will be offered at six levels during that particular event, so it will be perfect for those who would like to try a more challenging class. The full schedule for that event can be found on page 3 of Gaelchultúr's live online classes brochure – click here to download it. To book a place, email by 5.00pm on Friday, 11 September, stating the level you would like to attend.
