Gaelchultúr’s evening classes as popular as ever

Over 5,000 learners have now attended Gaelchultúr’s Irish language classes for adults and the company is confident that the autumn series of classes, which commences shortly, will also prove popular, despite the economic problems in the country.

Gaelchultúr is launching a new multimedia beginners course for adult learners of Irish this month and the company is expecting very good sales, both in Ireland and internationally.

Gaelchultúr is again running its popular intensive preparatory course in written Irish in Dublin and Galway this autumn and, due to the fact that the course material is available online, those living further afield can also undertake the programme.

Online courses for primary teachers available during the school year

In light of feedback from primary school teachers who undertook a summer course with Gaelchultúr this year, the company has decided to offer the courses all year round and also to call for proposals from teachers as regards courses they’d like us to develop in the years ahead.

Even though An Puball Gaeilge (the Irish language tent) wasn’t part of the Electric Picnic festival this year, there were plenty of Irish language events in the MindField area during the weekend.

Technology tip of the month

Old versions of websites which are no longer available, the Hiberno-English Archive on www.hiberno-english.com, for example, can be accessed using the WayBackMachine on www.archive.org. That archive contains many phrases derived from Irish which are still used in English. Should you be disgruntled or delighted to be referred to as an “aghaidh fidil”? Read on to find out!
