Our courses

This half-day course is designed for telephone and customer care staff in local authorities and the public sector, who deal with the public on a regular basis and are required to provide a service through Irish from time to time. This course is being organised by Gaelchultúr in conjunction with Foras na Gaeilge. It is suitable for those who have studied Irish previously (at school, for example), but have not used the language in a good number of years.

The intensive course focuses on grammatical accuracy, writing style and translation skills. There’s also an emphasis on the technological resources available in Irish, including those available online. The course involves a mix of independent study and live online classes. Summer course classes are as follows:

Session 1: Friday, 21 January & Saturday, 22 January Session 2: Friday, 18 February & Saturday, 19 February Session 3: Friday, 18 March & Saturday, 19 March Session 4: Friday, 08 April & Saturday, 09 April

Gaelchultúr is pleased to be able to offer general online Irish language courses for adult learners again. During this ten-week course, which will commence the week beginning 24 January, classes will be available at eight different levels. The participants will attend a two-hour class one day per week.

To attend the live online classes, the only requirements will be a headset with a microphone (a USB headset, if possible), a laptop or desktop computer and a reasonably good broadband connection. A digital booklet will be sent to learners before the beginning of the course and they will be able to use this material during the classes and for the studying they do between classes.

During the classes, learners will have an opportunity to raise a virtual hand and ask the teacher questions. Pair work and group work activities will also be an integral part of every session.
