Gaelchultúr announces new partnership with Dublin GAA to promote Irish on and off the pitch
Gaelchultúr has announced a new partnership with Dublin GAA aimed at increasing the visibility, accessibility and use of the Irish language across Gaelic games in the capital.
Officially launched at Parnell Park on Saturday, 12 September, the partnership will see 50 Irish-language scholarships offered to Dublin county players, giving them the opportunity to develop their Irish through Gaelchultúr’s award-winning language courses.
‘The Irish language and Gaelic games have always been woven into the fabric of Irish life. Our county players are among the most visible ambassadors of modern Irish culture, and when they speak Irish, they give the language a powerful platform. Through this partnership with Dublin GAA, we want to create more opportunities for players to learn, speak and champion Irish, both on and off the pitch.’
The Dublin GAA partnership is the latest initiative developed by Gaelchultúr to make Irish more accessible and visible within Ireland’s national games. It builds on the college’s ongoing partnerships with the GAA and Gaelic Players Association (GPA), as well as its sponsorship of Na Gaeil Óga.
Across its partnerships in the Gaelic games sector, Gaelchultúr provides scholarships, Irish-language courses, learning resources and other language supports - an investment of approximately €50,000 each year to support the use and development of Irish within Gaelic games.

‘These scholarships are a fantastic opportunity for Dublin players to develop their Irish-language skills. They will benefit those who have a love for the language, as well as those who want to strengthen their Irish for use in their professional lives. And we hope to hear many more interviews in Irish on TG4 in the future.’
The new partnership reflects a shared ambition between Gaelchultúr and Dublin GAA to create practical opportunities to learn, use and celebrate Irish, strengthening the language’s presence both on and off the pitch.
